Before the world of healthcare stole my heart, I was fascinated by all things related to music. I actually was on the verge of changing my degree plan from nursing to music during my sophomore year of college. Music has been a constant source of comfort for me throughout my life. I know this is true for so many people who listen to empowering music when in need of some music therapy.
For many endo warriors, depression and anxiety quickly follow endometriosis pain. Really, it makes sense. It’s very easy to fall into a depression or become anxious when you have a chronic illness that can very spontaneously flare up.
During my worst flares, I like to listen to songs that I can sing along to. I often look to songs that are empowering and distracting because they give me so much comfort when I’m in pain.
So, today I am sharing songs by females that give me hope, strength, and encouragement. Also, I’m throwing in the few songs that have allowed me to connect with my emotions when times are really tough.
Below are the music videos and reasons why I added these particular songs. But if you just want to start listening, HERE is my Spotify link to the playlist, enjoy!
I find that the best songs for lifting my mood are the ones that make me feel strong and in control of MY life.
I MUST start this playlist with the one song that will give you all the motivation to get up and rise above endometriosis!
A song that beautifully represents the fact that endometriosis will not keep you from being YOU!
Because, to bring more Endo Awareness to the world, we must be BRAVE! And because, endo warriors are some of the bravest people I know.
Of course, I have to include this amazing anthem for any warrior! This song will most definitely make you feel like you can “take back [your] life.”
Sometimes when I’m in a depressed mood, all I want to do is sing songs that allow me to feel every single emotion. It’s therapeutic and liberating.
Sara knows how to write some great lyrics! But this song in particular speaks to me and the girl I used to be . . . before endo.
If this song doesn’t bring out some emotion in you, then I don’t know what to tell you. Go from emo to empowered in just a few seconds.
For those of you who are spiritual/religious, you know that the best comfort and strength comes from a higher power.
This song is applicable to any Endo Warrior. I mean, the first lyrics are “sick and tired of being sick and tired.” It’s worth a listen, I promise!
Lastly, I have to end this playlist with my two favorite songs for the ladies! Because the truth is, endometriosis does not define us. And we have the power to RUN THE WORLD!
Stay Strong Warriors!!!
Because . . . Beyonce! Duh! And because I’m from “Houston, Texas Baby!”
